On the night of his daughter's 4th birthday, 35-year-old Edgar Jennings III was shot dead outside his Fort Walton Beach area apartment on November 19, 2019. Carissa Parker, the mother of his daughter, picked up Jordan Phillips in Pensacola and drove him to Jennings' home on Culp Avenue, where Phillips shot Jennings in the head and fled in Parker's car. Prosecutors determined Parker had contracted Phillips to carry out the killing. Both were indicted for first-degree murder and later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder with a firearm. Parker was sentenced to 53 years and Phillips to 40 years in prison.
