The requests for removal picked up when Young Thug attorney Brian Steel was held in contempt and ordered to jail after he exposed an ex parte meeting Judge Glanville had in his chambers with prosecutors and their star witness, Kenneth "Lil Woody" Copeland.

Young Thug faces nearly a dozen charges, including possession of drugs and weapons, participation in criminal street gang activity, and conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act. The rapper was arrested in May of 2022 along with 27 other alleged gang members. Many of those defendants have taken plea deals in the case.
