Read's first trial ended in a mistrial last month. She is accused of hitting and killing her boyfriend, John O'Keefe, with her SUV in January 2022. In Monday's hearing, a judge set a new trial date for January 27, 2025.

Karen Read faces several charges including second-degree murder, manslaughter while operating under the influence of alcohol, and leaving the scene of personal injury and death. She was arrested in February of 2022, a few days after John O’Keefe died. If convicted, Read faces life in prison.
