Steel mentioned that the rapper was with Donovan Thomas Jr. days before he was murdered at rapper T.I.'s studio. He also said that it is alleged that Young Thug wanted Thomas killed because he did not like the fact that Thomas would not let now deceased rapper Rich Homie Quan sign with an independent person.

Young Thug faces nearly a dozen charges, including possession of drugs and weapons, participation in criminal street gang activity, and conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act. The rapper was arrested in May of 2022 along with 27 other alleged gang members. Many of those defendants have taken plea deals in the case.
