On October 5th, 2020, Meagan Jackson reported that the father of her children, Gregory Rice, vanished. Rice's body was later found wrapped in a tarp along the Little Pee Dee River in November of 2020. Investigations revealed Jackson and the county's Deputy Coroner Christopher Dontell, with whom Jackson was having an affair with, were allegedly involved in Rice’s death. Dontell pleaded guilty in December 2024 and agreed to testify against Jackson.
