21:22Now PlayingRyan Borgwardt, a father of three who is accused of faking his own death and fleeing to Eastern Europe, was in court to take a plea and be sentenced. Borgwardt was reported missing in August 2024 after a kayak trip. He reportedly faked his death by leaving his kayak on the lake along with his fishing pole and then rode a bike to a bus station, went to Canada, and then flew to Europe to be with a woman he met on the internet. Borgwardt spoke at his sentencing, saying he “deeply regrets his actions” and for the pain he caused his friends and family. The judge sentenced him to 89 days in county jail for this crime.
