Matthew Lanz was on trial for the murders of Justin and Amber Hicks during a 2021 home invasion in Georgia. The state said he committed the tragic crime while their young son, Jacob, was asleep. Their son was found soaking wet and with blood on his pajamas the next morning. The defense believed that no evidence linked Lanz to the horrific crime. Lanz was involved in a second incident where he was shot after allegedly stabbing an officer during a separate break-in.
