Burks pleaded guilty to the killing of neurosurgeon Dr. Devon Hoover and to the death of Reda Saleh in a road rage incident. During the sentencing, Burks was seen smiling and shaking his head. He also spoke, saying that while he pleaded guilty, that does not mean he committed the crime. The judge condemned him for this behavior and sentenced him to 35-60 years in prison for Hoover's murder and 10-15 years for Saleh's murder.
