St. Simons Island dentist Suzanne Mericle is facing malice murder and felony murder charges after allegedly shooting her boyfriend, James Barron, through a bedroom door at their home in Gainesville on Lake Lanier. According to Georgia investigators, Barron had locked himself inside the bedroom during an argument when Mericle allegedly fired the shot. He was struck in the torso and later died from his injuries. First responders found him unresponsive inside the room.
