Defendant Gerhardt Konig explained that as tensions in their marriage continued to build, unresolved issues surrounding Arielle’s alleged affair came to a head during the couple’s trip to Oahu. Just minutes into a hike, Arielle allegedly brought up traveling again with the same co-worker, asking him to be okay with it—something he said left him shocked and upset, as they had never fully addressed the affair in counseling. He told the jury that the conversation made it clear they were “not on the same page,” and the situation quickly escalated into an argument. During that confrontation, he said he told Arielle that he wanted her to move out and planned to reveal the truth about the affair to others.
