U.S. soldier Zarrius Hildabrand is on trial for the murder of his wife, Saria Barney, who was part of the Alaska Army National Guard, in August 2023. Prosecutors allege Hildabrand fatally shot Barney in the head after the couple celebrated his 21st birthday. They claim Barney discovered he was cheating on her before she was killed. The defense argues that Barney died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and that Hildabrand found her deceased.
