Prosecutors allege the killing was connected to a contentious divorce and custody dispute involving Bridegan and his ex-wife, Shanna Gardner. Bridegan was shot and killed after stopping along a Jacksonville-area roadway with his infant daughter and stepchildren in the vehicle. Fernandez-Saldana, who is married to Gardner, is charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
