The defense says it has uncovered major new information that could fundamentally change the Sarah Grace Patrick case—but it won't say exactly what.

At today's hearing, defense attorneys asked the judge to delay the August trial, pointing to newly obtained DFCS records, possible problems with the police investigation, chain-of-custody concerns, and a previously undisclosed firearm that investigators located, tested, and returned to its owner.

The prosecution argues there's no reason to delay the trial, saying most of the DFCS records are duplicates, the firearm was not the murder weapon, and any remaining discovery can be handled before trial.

So what is the defense really talking about? Is there a new defense theory developing behind the scenes? Could the investigation itself become a major issue at trial? And why does the defense insist this goes beyond sentencing and could affect the entire case?

In this video, we break down today's hearing, the defense's mysterious claims, the prosecution's response, and what the judge will have to decide before trial.

As always, these are allegations and arguments made in court. Sarah Grace Patrick is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
