Last-Minute Drama Takes Over Lindsay Clancy Case (Trial Day 21)

Both sides have now rested in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, but the final day of testimony brought some of the biggest developments of the case.

The defense continued raising questions about Patrick Clancy’s account, challenged evidence the prosecution’s experts relied on, and used the Commonwealth’s own psychiatrist to make several important points — including one involving the prosecution’s opening statement. At the same time, Dr. Saathoff gave the prosecution a strong argument that Lindsay may have been seriously mentally ill but still understood what she was doing and could control her actions.

With closing arguments next, the case is ending in a very different place than it began.

Lindsay Clancy is on trial in a Massachusetts courtroom, accused of murdering her three children. She says she is not criminally responsible for what happened, because she was in postpartum psychosis.
