1:17:29Now PlayingWeek 5 was a big one in the R. Kelly trial. The prosecution finished their case and the defense started presenting their defense. In this episode, we explain those happenings and the closing arguments. Did the prosecution make its case? Did the defense achieve their goal of reasonable doubt for Rob Kelly in this latest case?
The prosecution finished their case with testimony from a former assistant of Mr. Kelly. She had lots to say about efforts to cover up some of the activities that are key to the accusations in this case. The final witness for the prosecution in the case was an expert witness, clinical psychologist Dawn Hughes. The prosecution asked about how someone like Rob could “groom young girls” and addressed the influence of powerful people on young girls. The prosecution worked to use this testimony to try to explain how R. Kelly could do all that they are charging. Did they get there?
Also this week the defense present their case for Rob. They called a host of long-time friends, security team members, and other employees. The goal was to confirm that these people were around and never saw anything wrong. Was that enough to create reasonable doubt?
