The Hillsborough Independent Inquiry report said there was no evidence to support the allegations he printed in The Sun under a headine "Hillsborough: The Truth".
In an interview sure to infuriate families of the Hillsborough victims, the former editor of The Sun claimed that he was a victim of police lies.
He's also said that whatever regulation is implemented after the Leveson report - it won't stop people giving false stories to the newspapers.
