Boris Johnson will address the House Commons at 3.30pm and is expected to announce new measures to tackle coronavirus.

He is expected to today announce that different parts of the country will be split up into "medium", "high" or "very high" local coronavirus alert areas under the new system.

The classification of areas will determine what type of "appropriate interventions" are to be made in them to combat the coronavirus outbreak.

The Prime Minister's address has come after he had a telephone conference with Cabinet colleagues on Sunday to discuss the situation and ongoing negotiations with local leaders in the North of England.

This address will take place before a live televised Downing Street press conference at 6pm with Chancellor Rishi Sunak and the chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty.
