Gazan journalist Haneen Harara joined Shelagh Fogarty live from Rafah, telling her that there are 'positive signs' towards a six-week truce.

Ms Harara noted that if a truce is not reached before the Holy month of Ramadan it would be 'catastrophic'.

Reporting from Rafah which has become the last point of refuge for around a million displaced civilians - around half of Gaza's entire population, she tells of the high density of people there, adding that Israeli airstrikes on the area will result in 'massacres'.

Israel has commenced targeted strikes on the area in recent days.
