5:27Now PlayingGeneral election fever has gripped Westminster as speculation growing that Rishi Sunak could reveal the exact date the nation will go to the polls.
Despite Labour being way ahead in the polls there were growing rumours today that an announcement could come in the next few hours.
There was even speculation that the election could take place as early as July 4.
There was no official word from No10 but at PMQs today Mr Sunak said: “There will be an election in the second half of the year."
