as posted by the channelLloyd Green, former adviser to the US Department of Justice, reacts to the news that President Joe Biden has pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, in a U-turn that could see him avoid a possible prison sentence in relation to federal gun and tax charges.
The Democratic president had previously stated he would not pardon his son or commute his sentence in relation to his convictions in two cases in Delaware and California between January 1, 2014 and December 1, 2024.
The charges against Hunter Biden, which date back to 2018, relate to the purchase of a gun and a more recent conviction for tax evasion.
Speaking to Shelagh Fogarty, Mr Green says Joe Biden's move summarised the 'self-indulgence' of his 'rotten' presidency, accusing him of using his position to help resolve ongoing issues within his family.
In their discussion, he also references reports that Biden compared himself to FDR in conversations with his team, as well as crediting himself as 'more transformational than President Barack Obama'.
He argues that Mr Biden has a 'chip on his shoulder' because he felt 'Obama should have tapped him as his successor' for the 2016 election.
