Speaking to LBC's Nick Ferrari on Monday morning, the Reform UK leader said he understood there Americans "still very worried" about the deal.
This comes as US President Donald Trump stated he was "inclined" to support the deal, which will transfer British sovereignty of the Indian ocean archipelago to Mauritius, a former British colony.
While Mauritius was granted independence in 1968, the Chagos Islands have remained under British control.
Its largest island of Diego Garcia, has since become an important military base for both US and UK forces.
The deal would see Britain leasing the islands from Mauritius for a period of 99 years, with the option to extend by another 40.
The British Government has so far refused to release the final cost of the deal.
