"A lot of people are getting carried away. They're saying loads of things and getting quite animated. Let's keep cool heads," she said.
The Vice President sparked furious backlash and accusations that he disrespected British and French troops after saying 20,000 soldiers from "random countries" won't bring peace to Ukraine.
The VP told Fox News that the only way to bring lasting peace is to give Washington an economic interest in the future of Ukraine.
He said: "If you want real security guarantees, if you want to actually ensure that Vladimir Putin does not invade Ukraine again, the very best security guarantee is to give Americans economic upside in the future of Ukraine," he said.
