Has Donald Trump descended into the 'world of conspiracy theories'? | LBC

Gabriel Gatehouse, a journalist who has written on the power of conspiracy theories in American politics, tells Shelagh Fogarty that Donald Trump's White House has embraced 'QAnon and white supremacy.'

He also told Shelagh that the MAGA movement is a 'cult of personality' whose supporters try to 'match and go beyond Trump's wild statements.'

President Trump gave an address to Congress on Wednesday where he told lawmakers he is "just getting started" after a whirlwind six weeks in office.

In his speech, the President vowed to keep up his campaign of "swift and unrelenting action" in reorienting the nation's economy, immigration and foreign policy.

His comments came in an unyielding address to Congress that left Democratic legislators registering their dissent with stone faces and placards calling out his "lies".

One Democrat was thrown out of the chamber - while Republicans chanted "USA" to drown out heckling.

Trump also said Volodymyr Zelenskyy had told him he's ready for talks to agree on peace in Ukraine, adding it's time to "stop this madness".

"It's time to halt the killing. It's time to end this senseless war. If you want to end wars you have to talk to both sides."

Relations between the US and Ukraine appeared to be in tatters last week after a confrontation between Trump and Zelenskyy at the White House.
