Le Pen has also been barred from running for public office for five years, preventing her from standing in the 2027 French presidential election. Furious, she stormed out of the courtroom as the judge delivered the verdict.
She and eight former EU lawmakers, along with 12 parliamentary assistants, were found guilty of misusing EU funds to finance their French National Rally (RN) party.
Despite the four-year sentence, she is not likely to serve time in prison. Two years are suspended, while the remaining two will be spent under electronic surveillance. She has also been fined £82,635 and is expected to appeal.
