YouTube Description
as posted by the channelA 69-year-old Palestinian woman with spinal and mental health problems has used Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights to enter the UK.
She claimed the right to a family life to see her daughter. This ruling by an immigration judge happened despite the Home Office's claim that this could allow a "proliferation” of a “very large number” of people in Gaza and other war zones applying for medical treatment in the UK.
Tom Swarbrick hears from Nigel Farage's ex-adviser Gawain Towler, who says 'the idea that we need foreign judges to tell us what is a human right is...is ridiculous', and wants us to leave the ECHR.
Tom is also joined by Professor Catherine Barnard of the University of Cambridge, who describes how this is a 'sympathy case', different to other cases where criminality may have been involved.
