11:15Now PlayingAndrew Marr is joined by former interest rate trader Gary Stevenson for a conversation about wealth inequality in Britain - and what he would do differently if he were Chancellor.
Although he found huge success in the financial world, Gary now dedicates his platform to raising awareness about the dangers of wealth inequality and its increasing impact on people's living standards.
At just 21, Gary joined Citibank as its youngest-ever trader. Within three years, he had become the bank’s most profitable, earning millions by correctly betting on an economic collapse. He had gone from a two-bedroom terrace in east London to unimaginable wealth, but it didn’t sit right. Making money from financial crises, he realised, wasn’t something he could live with. So he walked away from his City career to focus on campaigning for a fairer economic system.
"I'm not calling for war, just a fairer tax system," he tells Andrew.
"It's time to tax wealth, not work," he adds.
