A source told the newspaper that it would allow the City of London Corporation to discuss tariffs with the US President and push against tariffs, during his state visit in September.
The symbolic title would allow President Trump to herd sheep across London Bridge.
Matthew Wright is joined by Professor Scott Lucas (3:35) to discuss whether it will be awarded and if Trump will be interested in it.
John in Hammersmith (6:22) says the ceremonial title would be a ’thank you’ from the UK for trade deals and US military support in Europe.
Tina in Haddenham (8:28) is firmly against the suggestion, saying she feels ‘sorry’ for the King having to host Trump’s visit.
