James O’Brien and deputy political editor of the Guardian, Jessica Elgot, discuss the Tory leader’s claim of a partial scholarship, offered at age 16, to study medicine at Stanford University.

However, medicine is only offered to graduates at Stanford, and the university does not offer a pre-med degree.

Staff at the top US university have no recollection of making the offer to Kemi Badenoch.

When asked for clarification, the Conservatives have said that Badenoch had been offered the medical place at multiple US universities on the basis of good exam results.
