5:40Now PlayingThe UK military is to be given new legal powers to shoot down unidentified drones threatening British bases.
It comes as the Ministry of Defence steps up efforts to counter the growing threat from hostile states. Unidentified drones have hovered above airbases used by both British and US forces in the UK, including RAF Lakenheath, Mildenhall, and Feltwell. British counter-drone specialists have been sent to Denmark after reports of suspicious aerial activity in its airspace.
Drones have also played a major role in Russia's invasion of Ukraine, with more than 3,000 drone attacks launched so far in October.
Karl Rosander, drone defence expert and co-founder of Nordic Air Defence, explains to Shelagh Fogarty what capabilities Britain has in shooting down drones. He also talks about the new challenge of countering automated and AI-driven drones.
