Since its discovery, the mysterious visitor has sparked a fierce debate in the scientific community. Professor Brian Cox has described 3I/ATLAS as “a completely natural object, made of carbon dioxide, water ice, and cosmic dust” - a kind of time capsule offering clues to the early universe.
Loeb strongly disagrees. He argues that 3I/ATLAS could be an alien probe or piece of technology, not a conventional comet. In this interview, he outlines the anomalies he believes mainstream scientists are ignoring and explains why dismissing such possibilities is unscientific.
As only the third interstellar object ever detected passing through our solar system, 3I/ATLAS raises fundamental questions about what, and who, might be out there.
