Henry Riley speaks to Andrew Marr about the resignation of the PM’s Top Aide, Morgan McSweeney, and whether this signals the end for Starmer’s time in office.

McSweeney, who is widely seen as Sir Keir's right-hand man, admitted he advised the Prime Minister to appoint Mandelson, despite his very public links to Jeffrey Epstein.

He acknowledges this mistake in his resignation letter, saying: "The decision to appoint Peter Mandelson was wrong. He has damaged our party, our country and trust in politics itself.

"When asked, I advised the Prime Minister to make that appointment and I take full responsibility for that advice.”

Pressure continues to mount on Keir Starmer to similarly resign over his appointment of Mandelson.

Andrew Marr suggests this resignation could come in the next week, saying: “If he carries on, it will be miserable.’

Marr thinks it’s ‘over for Starmer’, adding that he was ’never remotely a good enough politician for the job’.
