Nigel Farage has announced new roles for Richard Tice, Robert Jenrick, Zia Yusuf and Suella Braverman.

The shadow cabinet is traditionally made up of senior members of the main opposition party in Westminster who act as spokespeople for the opposition in specific policy areas.

However, Mr Farage has claimed that while the Conservative Party has more MPs in Westminster, Reform UK's numbers in parliament are growing, and the party has consistently led in polling.

Reform's new education and equalities spokeswoman Suella Braverman also pledged to scrap the Equality Act.

She told the press conference: “We will repeal the Equality Act, because we are going to work to build a country defined by meritocracy not tokenism, personal responsibility not victimhood, excellence not mediocrity, and unity not division.”

Mrs Braverman was pressed on whether the policy to get rid of the Act could impact birth rates, given its role in protecting maternity leave.

The MP for Fareham and Waterlooville replied: “Scrapping the Equality Act means getting rid of the pernicious, divisive notion of protected characteristics."

LBC's Political Editor Natasha Clark outlines the 'shadow' cabinet to Nick Ferrari and he is also joined by Tory defector Maria Caulfield.
