Instead, Hollinrake doubled down on the opinion, telling Nick that the event should never have been allowed to go ahead as an 'exclusive ticketed event'. Nick's astonishment writ large on his face, Hollinrake continued to defend his statement.
Before that, the chairman had outlined the Tory hopes heading into May's local elections, saying that he wanted the party to improve on its 15% vote share at the last set of local elections in 2022.
