YouTube Description
as posted by the channelAttorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian—both based in Los Angeles and representing hundreds of wildfire victims—tear apart Trump's executive order on LA wildfire rebuilding. The order claims to cut red tape and speed up permits, but it does nothing to address the actual barriers to recovery: insurance companies slow-paying claims, tariff-driven construction costs, labor shortages from immigration crackdowns, and $33.9 billion in federal disaster aid that California has requested and Trump is withholding. Instead, the order allows builders to "self-certify" that their structures meet safety standards—the same approach that created the Boeing 737 MAX disasters. It also prohibits affordable housing in Pacific Palisades, because Trump doesn't want poor people moving into a wealthy neighborhood. The president has no authority over local permitting. He knows that. This isn't policy—it's a press release with a signature. Mayor Karen Bass called it a "meaningless political stunt." She's being generous.
