11:45Now PlayingAttorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian take viewers inside the Boeing 737 Max 8 that DHS is leasing — and now pushing to purchase for $70 million — ostensibly for "high-profile deportations" and Cabinet travel. The plane seats just 17-18 passengers in a VIP configuration that includes two private bedroom suites with queen beds, two showers, bathrooms with bidets, a wet bar, a wine chiller, a buffet, lounge areas, and flat-screen TVs — interior design by renowned New York designer Peter Marino. DHS insiders have privately called using the luxury jet for deportations "far-fetched," and ICE officials initially rejected the purchase before political appointees reversed the decision. Noem already used the jet for a trip to Tel Aviv, and her top adviser Corey Lewandowski reportedly had a Coast Guard pilot fired for forgetting her personal blanket. The attorneys note this isn't Noem's first brush with misusing government aircraft — as South Dakota governor, she used the state plane at least six times for personal trips, including rerouting it so she could be home for her son's prom. Meanwhile, ICE has separately purchased five non-luxury 737s that actually seat 200 people for deportation flights, raising the obvious question of why a plane with bedrooms and bidets is needed at all. The hosts argue this is what happens when the "big, beautiful bill" writes a blank check to DHS — public servants living like oligarchs on the taxpayer's dime.
