9:38Now PlayingAttorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian break down the FBI's latest move to relitigate the 2020 election — this time issuing a grand jury subpoena to Arizona's Republican Senate president for records from the infamous Cyber Ninjas audit of Maricopa County. The audit was commissioned by Republican state senators, conducted by a company with zero election auditing experience, funded by Trump allies including Patrick Byrne and Mike Lindell, and after six months of searching — including checking ballots for bamboo fibers to see if they were shipped from Asia — concluded that Biden won by even more votes than originally counted. The company shut down in 2022. Now Trump's DOJ wants those records anyway. The subpoena didn't go to Maricopa County or election officials — it went to the Senate president who helped launch the audit and who immediately complied. Arizona AG Kris Mayes called it "the weaponization of federal law enforcement in service of crackpots and lies" and instructed the state's 14 counties not to comply with any similar subpoenas without consulting her office. The hosts argue this is a waste of finite FBI resources that should be going after terrorism, cybercrime, and organized fraud — and that the real purpose is intimidation and political theater ahead of the midterms.
