Judge Royce Lamberth, a Reagan appointee who's been on the bench for over 40 years, ruled that Kari Lake was unlawfully installed to run the agency, voided everything she did, and ordered all 1,042 employees placed on paid leave to be reinstated by March 23. Lamberth said Lake "repeatedly thumbed her nose" at statutory requirements and that the administration made no effort to defend the merits of shutting the network down. The irony is staggering — VOA reaches 360 million people a week in more than 40 languages, and the Trump administration itself recalled Farsi-speaking staff when it needed propaganda support for the war in Iran.
