The plaintiffs argue this violates the National Historic Preservation Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, and the original act of Congress that created the Kennedy Center as a living memorial to President Kennedy. They point to what happened with the White House East Wing — Trump assured the public it wouldn't be touched, then demolished it days later — as proof that his assurances can't be trusted.
