38:50Now PlayingIn this episode, Legal AF’s Ray Brescia speaks with Reed Brody, an international expert on human rights and international law; a member of the International Commission of Jurists; and one of three individuals appointed to United Nations’ Group of Experts on Human Rights in Nicaragua. He was formerly Counsel at Human Rights Watch, where worked on cases involving Augusto Pinochet of Chile and Jean-Claude “Baby Doc” Duvalier of Haiti. He is described as "The Dictator Hunter," which is the title of the movie about his work from Dutch director Klaartje Quirijns that explores Brody’s efforts to bring former president Hissène Habré of Chad to trial for killing thousands of his own countrymen in the 1980s. This conversation discusses human rights and international law at home, exploring the actions of the Trump Administration with respect to the war with Iran and the interdiction of boats in the Caribbean. Brody lays out the nature of the Trump Administration’s actions and assesses what the likely long-term legal consequences are for President Trump and the members of his administration involved with these actions.
