YouTube Description
as posted by the channelAttorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian break down Trump's 545-word Truth Social attack on Justices Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett after the 6-3 tariff ruling. "I don't want loyalty, but I do want and expect it for our Country," Trump wrote, saying the two justices he appointed "have hurt our Country so badly" and showed "so little respect." He previously called them "fools," "lap dogs," and "an embarrassment to their families." This isn't a president disagreeing with a ruling. It's a public pressure campaign against the judiciary. Trump also tipped his hand on the pending birthright citizenship case, writing that the same justices "will be ruling against us," predicting a loss, and warning that the decision would not be "economically sustainable." Chief Justice Roberts responded without naming Trump: "Personal attacks on judges are not just wrong, they are dangerous." Brian and Shant note that no president in modern history has publicly gone after individual justices by name demanding loyalty. The difference with the Supreme Court is that the justices have lifetime tenure, and Trump has no leverage. He can't fire them. That's exactly how the founders designed it: to protect the judiciary from a president who would treat it as another loyalty institution. The framers got it right, and the Constitution is winning.
