Allison Pearson, "Non-Crime Hate Incidents" and Britain's slide into communism

Journalist Allison Pearson was targeted by the police recently for a year-old tweet that they said was racist. I show why the tweet is not racist. And I look at how hate speech laws are being used to intimidate political activists, opposition politicians - and us, the great unwashed.

Non Crime Hate Incidents are vaguely defined - this is deliberate. All authoritarian regimes have vague laws that anyone could be seen to have broken, so the state can pick and choose who to persecute, and everyone lives in fear of the state. I was with Allison a couple of days after the police doorstepped her and she was genuinely perturbed by the visit.

I look at the rich history of Communist regimes using police intimidation and public humiliation - which we're sliding towards at an alarming rate.

I also look at the response from the left - who, predictably, think it's wonderful that the government is policing speech and believe Allison to be guilty of horrendous crimes.

And I look at the possibility that this could all be retribution against Allison for her previous criticism of Essex Police.
