Interview with Thomas Buchar on South Africa's slide into lawlessness - and how it affected him

Since the end of apartheid, South Africa is experiencing a slow slide into the corruption and lawlessness that bedevils many other African countries, and a rise in the populist anti-white rhetoric that was such a terrible omen for neighbouring Zimbabwe.

Julius Malema, the Mugabe-ish leader of anti-white Marxist party the EFF, holds huge rallies in South African stadiums where he exhorts his followers to "Kill the Boer...Kill the white farmer".

The EFF came dangerously close to being kingmakers in the recent South African election.

I spoke to Thomas Buchar, an American entrepreneur who's been visiting South Africa for years and now lives there. He's a pretty centre-lefty non-Trumpian kind of guy but isn't blind to the country's trajectory.

And he experienced the lawlessness first hand last year when a dispute with his landlord escalated - resulting in the landlord physically throwing his weight around, entering his home and seizing millions of dollars worth of personal and business items (hard drives, source codes etc).

And a bunch of sex toys.

The good news is, the authorities are finally taking it seriously. And the landlord's lawyer has been suspended by his law firm. But the property hasn't been recovered (it might never be). And despite Thomas's optimism, I think the rise of anti-white Marxist populism hasn't been quenched. We'll see growing anti-white rhetoric and violence. South Africa risks becoming a new Zimbabwe.

Thomas is still living in South Africa. And still scouring car-boot sales for those butt plugs (quick cycle in the dishwasher and they're as good as new).
