Something very interesting has happened this week. Lefty European politicians who normally chant "No borders, no nations!" and "Migrants welcome!" have suddenly turned into blood-and-soil nationalists. But only for Greenland. And only because Trump wants to buy it so badly he's threatened military action.

(I should point out right now that I don't approve of Trump making threats towards Greenland. I think he's being silly and self-defeating. He obviously wouldn't actually do it. It's bad for the right in Europe and allows the left to puff out their chests and play at patriotism. And it perhaps betrays his naivety when dealing with Russia (they've reportedly congratulated him on having such a wonderful idea at every meeting they've had). If he really wanted it, he could have gone in with a warm smile and offered all 50,000 Greenlanders a million dollars and a green card.)

Still, the hypocrisy from Europe's politicians is astonishing.

Zack Polanski has gone from demanding a borderless Britain to demanding that Greenland is for Greenlanders. The left-wing British press have run front pages saying "Greenland is for Greenlanders". Such a change from when somebody says "England for the English" or "Britain for the British", and it's reported as a despicable, racist hate crime.

Keir Starmer has said that only Greenland can decide its future. I wish he defended Britain's borders as robustly as he defends Greenland's. He's currently handing away the Chagos Islands, a British territory, to Mauritius, a close ally of China.

And when I say “handing it over”, I mean we’re paying Mauritius £36 billion to take the islands off our hands. Like it’s a giant mattress the council is collecting, rather than a strategically important military base.

And while he says that Greenlanders should decide the fate of Greenland, Chagossians are ignored. They don't want their islands given away.

Some on the left are say that there's a difference between mass immigration and a military threat. But there's lots of evidence of migrants coming here to set up military training camps and clearly stating their aim to take over Britain.
