Jennifer and Jeromie Clark, religious fundamentalists, were arrested for failing to take their 14-month-old son John to the hospital until he was actually near death, were convicted by a jury in Calgary. John was malnourished and died from a staph infection, according to the forensic pathologist's report. He died the day after he was brought to the hospital where he had a seizure and two cardiac arrests. The parents tried to argue that it was the doctors who were to blame for his death. At the time of the couple's arrest, police that the family followed a strict vegan diet based on an extreme interpretation of the Seventh-day Adventist religion.
