China Forces Birth Control on Muslims 😮

The Chinese government is taking measures to slash birth rates among Uighur Muslim population. Individual women have spoken out before about forced birth control, but the practice is far more systematic than previously known, according to an AP investigation based on government statistics, state documents and interviews with 30 ex-detainees, family members and a former detention camp instructor. According to interviews and data, state regularly conducts pregnancy checks, and forces intrauterine devices, sterilization and even abortion on hundreds of thousands of minority women. Even while the use of IUDs and sterilization has fallen across other parts of the nation, it is rising sharply in Xinjiang Province. Those who fail to comply are punished with heavy fines, or worse, sent to re-education camps. The birth control campaign has resulted in a climate of terror around having children.
