18:52Now PlayingOver 50 people were recently beheaded in Muatide village in northern Mozambique by militant Islamists. The militants turned a football field in the village into an "execution ground," where they decapitated and chopped bodies, other reports said. The militants are associated with the Islamic State (IS), giving the terrorist group a foothold in southern Africa. The group has a pattern of exploiting poverty and unemployment to recruit youth in their fight to establish Islamic rule in the area. The latest attack was likely the worst carried out by the militants. Mozambique's government has appealed for international aid to curb the insurgency, saying its troops need specialized training.
