23:22Now PlayingA report from the human rights charity Grant Liberty alleges that political prisoners and women’s rights activists have been sexually assaulted, tortured and died while imprisoned within Saudi Arabian jails. The report shared exclusively with The Independent claims that 309 political prisoners have suffered severe human rights abuses since Mohammed bin Salman became crown prince of the kingdom in 2017. Researchers reported that 20 prisoners were arrested for political crimes they committed as children, some as early as age 9, with five of these inmates already executed and an additional 13 currently facing the death penalty. Twenty-seven political prisoners are women’s rights activists, and at least six of them have been sexually assaulted.
