10:56Now PlayingRecently, on Diwali night, two men in Uttar Pradesh (UP) allegedly raped and murdered a seven-year-old girl to extract her liver. The local police reported that the two men gave the child's liver to relatives who believed that eating the organ as part of a tantric practice would help them conceive a child. All four have been arrested. The two young men were paid a total of 1,500 rupees (roughly 20 USD) for the task, which they reportedly used to buy alcohol. The perpetrators confessed to the police that they kidnapped the girl by tempting her with a bag of potato chips and sexually assaulted her before strangling her and extracting her liver. Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath, has promised a compensation of 500,000 rupees to the victim's family and that the case will be fast-tracked through the state courts.
