15:59Now PlayingOn April 11th, members of the local Muslim community in the western city of Rennes discovered graffiti insulting Islam and the Prophet Muhammad on a mosque and Muslim cultural center. The graffiti references restarting the Crusades and a call for Catholicism to be made the state religion. France’s interior minister, Gerald Darmanin, has ordered more comprehensive security for Muslim sites of worship after vandals defaced the walls of the mosque days before the start of Ramadan. Darmanin said, “Freedom of worship in France is a fundamental freedom.” The door of a mosque was destroyed by arsonists on the night of April 15th in the western city of Nantes. President of the National Observatory Against Islamophobia, Abdallah Zekri, criticized what he called an anti-Islam climate.
