While the world is distracted by rumors of a missing supreme leader and a powerless president, a shadow kingmaker is consolidating total control. Hossein Taeb is the man pulling the strings between the military and the clergy. If you are not paying attention to his name, you are missing the real threat to global security.
📰 The Breaking News & The Controversy
The Claim: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian allegedly stated that he had a meeting with Mojtaba Khamenei (the son of the current Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei).
The Reality Check: According to leaked IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) meeting details obtained by Iran International, Pezeshkian is lying. The meeting never happened.
The Reaction: Top IRGC commanders were reportedly shocked that Pezeshkian would make such a bold, fabricated claim.
🛑 The Catalyst: Why Lie About a Meeting?
Diplomatic Sabotage: President Pezeshkian has been desperately trying to mend relationships with neighboring countries in the Persian Gulf (specifically the UAE and Oman).
IRGC Interference: Every time Pezeshkian extends an olive branch, the IRGC (under the command of Vahidi) allegedly launches attacks or harasses commercial vessels in the region, actively sabotaging the President's diplomatic efforts.
Desperation for Leverage: Because the President holds very little actual power in Iran's structure, Pezeshkian needed leverage to force the IRGC to stop. He sought out Mojtaba Khamenei to intervene, but could not secure a meeting.
The Conundrum: Since the IRGC didn't order Pezeshkian to lie about the meeting, and Pezeshkian generally lacks the political capital to pull off such a stunt independently, the order likely came from somewhere else.
♟️ The Four Major Factions of the Islamic Republic
To understand who ordered the lie, we have to look at the four main competing factions vying for control:
1. 🕌 The Intelligence/Security Network (Beit Rahbari)
Also known as: The Office of the Supreme Leadership.
Key Figures: Mojtaba Khamenei and Hossein Taeb.
Power Source: "Soft Power" and immense wealth. They derive their authority from the religious and charismatic legitimacy of the Supreme Leader's office.
2. 🤝 The Negotiation-Facing Track
Key Figure: Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf (Speaker of the Parliament).
Power Source: Loyalty from specific camps within the IRGC. President Pezeshkian is associated with this faction, though he relies on it for influence rather than generating it himself.
3. 🪖 The Military Corps (The IRGC)
Key Figure: Ahmad Vahidi.
Power Source: "Hard Power." They hold the most military weapons, monopolize vast sectors of the Iranian economy, and have immense financial resources.
Weakness: They lack a charismatic, unifying leader that commands blind devotion from the regime's base.
4. ⚖️ The Ideological Pressure Camp (Paydari)
Key Figure: Saeed Jalili.
Power Source: Strict ideological purity and influence over the ultra-conservative base.
⚔️ The Real Power Struggle: Theocracy vs. Military Dictatorship
The Shadow War: The true battle for Iran's future is between Camp 1 (Beit Rahbari) and Camp 3 (The IRGC). The IRGC wants to transition the country into a military dictatorship under their control, while the Beit Rahbari wants to maintain the theocracy.
The Motive for the Lie: Rumors that Mojtaba Khamenei is dead, incapacitated, or missing severely damage the soft power of the Beit Rahbari. By having the President publicly announce a "fantastic" meeting with Mojtaba, the Office of the Supreme Leader attempts to reassert Mojtaba's relevance and power, neutralizing the embarrassing rumors.
The Kingmaker: Hossein Taeb is highlighted as the ultimate bridge between the IRGC and the Supreme Leader's office. As Mojtaba's close ally, his power has skyrocketed, making him a potential "Supreme Leader behind the scenes" and a highly critical target in Middle Eastern geopolitics.
